How to Fix WordPress Plugin Errors

Plugin errors affect WordPress in various ways. In the best possible way, an error message will display in the admin area that indicates the plugin causing the problem. In worse cases, errors will be displayed on your website, which may affect your branding.

Errors can occur after installing and updating plugin or after updating WordPress. The latter indicates that your plugin is not compatible with the current version of WordPress.

To fix plugin error, simply locate the plugin causing the problem and deactivate it. As mentioned, you can locate the faulty plugin as displayed in the error message. However, if the error message does not state the faulty plugin, you can manually locate the issue by deactivating all plugins, reactivating each one at a time while checking your WordPress site - whichever clashes with your site is the odd one out.

How to Deactivate Faulty Plugin

To disable faulty plugin, follow the steps below.

Step 1. From your browser, type in the URL box your domainname/wp-admin and hit Enter key from your keyboard.

Step 2. On the left-hand corner, click Plugins.

Step 3. Search for the faulty plugin, and click Deactivate.

Step 4. Click Apply.

How to Manually Locate Faulty Plugin

To manually locate faulty plugin, follow the steps below

Step 1. From your browser, type in the URL box your domainname/wp-admin and hit Enter key from your keyboard.

Step 2. On the left-hand corner, click Plugins.

Step 3. Select all plugin, then from the Bulk Action menu at the top of the page, select Deactivate.

Step 4. Click Apply.

Step 5. Enable plugin one at a time by clicking Activate below the plugin’s name.

Step 6. Check your WordPress site for errors.

Step 7.  Repeat steps 7 & 8, until you find the faulty plugin. When you locate the plugin causing the error, deactivate it.
