Create a CSR for Exchange 2010
These are the steps that you need to follow in order to create a Certificate Signing Request on Exchange 2010:
- Start up Microsoft Exchange 2010 and navigate to the Exchange Management Console.
- Select Manage Databases.
- Click on the Server Configuration option. It will be found in the menu on the left side of the screen. Then click on New Exchange Certificate. It will be in the menu on the right.
- When it asks for a friendly name, enter the name you'd like to associate with it. This can be anything you choose.
- If you are generating a CSR for a Wildcard SSL Certificate, find Domain Scope and check the box underneath it. Then skip to step #8. If you are generating a CSR for any other type of SSL Certificate, go to the next step.
- Navigate to the Exchange Configuration menu. There you will need to select the services that you want to use to make secure connections and enter the names using which you connect to them. The install wizard will prompt you as required.
- Next, review the list which Exchange 2010 advises you to include in your CSR. Modify this list as you see fit.
- Hit Browse to save the Certificate signing Request on your computer as a .req file.
- Then hit Save, Next, and New.
- Hit Finish to generate the CSR.
Upon submission of the CSR to us, make sure that you include the CSR you generated completely! Do not omit the -----BEGIN CERTIFICATE REQUEST----- and -----END CERTIFICATE REQUEST----- (Make sure there are 5 dashes to begin and close the tags.)
Once you have received your SSL Certificate, you can install it.
